In Chillicothe, Illinois
We would like to invite all of our friends, old and ones yet to be
made, to join us in Chillicothe, Illinois for "Shake, Rattle & Roll" for
PD weekend. We have several different activities planned so there is sure
to be something for everyone. The dates are Saturday and Sunday, May 25
the & 26th. We will be kicking off the weekend bright and early on
Saturday with a symposium entitled "Patients As Providers" which will be
presented by "PEOPLE LIVING WITH PARKINSON'S" (PLWP. org). This will take
place at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at the Peoria
campus in the main lecture hall and will feature interactive conversation
and knowledge sharing among scientists and researchers, neurologists, and
plwp's and their families. In the afternoon, we will gather for a "parkie
picnic" at a friend's lake to celebrate the upcoming wedding reception of
Tom (deepbrain) Kelly and Tammy (pdgal) McNamar, plus the birthdays of Dr.
Rick Weber, AJ Campbell and anything else one would care to celebrate-the
special bond between pwp's and the joy we find in these celebrations. On
Sunday morning, everyone whom is so inclined to join us at Mass at St.
Edward Catholic church are invited to join my family & me. Father Joe will
give us a special blessing. Then it is on to the beautiful Peoria
riverfront where we start our "Shake, Rattle and Roll" for PD festivities.
At 10 AM-we will have final registration and the buffet will begin. We
have lots of tasty treats and a tee-shirt for all whom come to participate
in the walk. At 10:30 AM, we will present our speakers: Gina Morrs-TV
personality from our local news station will act as Master of Ceremonies
and she will also be reading (we hope) greetings and encouragement from
Anne Udall-the daughter of the late U.S. Congressman Morris Udall. Our
speakers will include U.S. Representative Lane Evans, State Senator David Leitch,, Carol Walton-the executive director of the Parkinson Alliance &
the sponsor of our event. We hope to include a few surprises in our
program also. At 11 AM, our gentle 1 or 2 mile walk along the riverfront
will begin. After completion of the walk, please stay for some wonderful
jazz music provided by "Big" John Miller & friends and the prizes. We have
some terrific prizes for those who bring in the most money in donations:
for the adults, we have a $249.00 pair of Maui Jim sunglasses, or a
overnight stay at the downtown Peoria Holiday Inn City Centre with dinner
for two at Jim's Downtown Steakhouse and a Carriage Ride from Carriage
Classics, or for third prize-a $129.00 pair of Maui Jim sunglasses. The
prize for the 15 year old or younger person bringing in the most money in
donations will be a swim party at the AmericInn.
Anyone who would like an info packet with all the details of this
event-please email your snail mail address to Joan Blessington Snyder at <snyder201@mchsi.com>.
I hope to see a lot of friends come out to help us raise money and
