It is getting close to the busiest time of
the year, the time that we all wish for a couple of elves to help with those
last minute chores like change the sheets, serve the meals, check on the
toilet paper roll and make sure everyone has a towel. This is the time we
usually spend with family, whether the grandkids come to Grammy's or the
other way around.
I hope to make that stressful time a delightful memorable visit if you
follow these tips.
Tips for the hosts;
Allow enough time so that you aren't addressing Christmas cards after
your guests arrive.
Delegate your company to set the table, make a salad, assemble the appetizer
plate. You must tell guests what you want done or you will be doing it all
alone.
Sometime during the dinner announce who you have selected to help with
dishes. Try a husband wife team to do the dishes for a change.
Keep a watch on how much liquor people are drinking, one drunk can really
spoil a party.
Relax, and enjoy your company.
Tips for guests
Offer to help, or find something to be helpful.
Bring your host a gift, and don't expect
them to open it in front of the other guests. If you meant it to be for
everyone make sure you say so when you give it to the host.
Be polite no matter how much you dislike
Uncle Stan.
Most of all, enjoy the opportunity to be with family, they are the only
family you will ever have.
Peace be with you this holiday season and may we all reflect on the horrific
events in September as being only in our past.
Merry Christmas to my Parkinson family
